JOHN A. GIBSON JR.
John A. Gibson Jr., 73, of Piqua, passed away suddenly at his residence. He was born April 19, 1948 in Flemington, West Virginia to the late John A. and Virginia (Bell) Gibson Sr. He married Cinda L. Armstrong June 27, 1970 in Ansonia, and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Benjamin) Garber of Piqua; a son, Shane (Linda) Gibson of Salem; and six grandchildren, Austin (Ashton) Garber, Isaiah (Maria) Garber, Navie Garber, Braydon Gibson, Gabi Gibson, Troy Gibson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, George and Joe Gibson.
Mr. Gibson graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Marines to serve in the Vietnam War where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was an accomplished Tool & Die maker for the A.O. Smith Company of Tipp City. He devoted much of his time helping other veterans as a Sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed fishing, playing Euchre, his pets Coco, Rascal , and Chloe, and he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Small officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
