John Frederick “Fred” Drapp, age 66, with his loving family at his side, passed peacefully to the Lord at 9:39 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2022. Formerly of Piqua, OH, and more recently Fort Thomas, KY, Fred was born April 2, 1956 in Dayton to the late Charles E. and Mary R. (Brooks) Drapp. He married Suzanne Fankhauser August 31, 1979 in Dayton and she survives.
Other survivors include three children, Bradley (Ashley) Drapp of Carmel, Indiana, Brian (Lauren) Drapp of Villa Hills, Kentucky, Katie (Andy) Wenstrup of Bethel, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Owen, Grayson, Leo, Grant, Luke, Annie, Hannah; and three siblings, Joseph Drapp and Chuck Drapp both of Piqua, and Jean Drapp of Dunedin, Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Drapp.
Fred was a 1974 graduate of Lehman Catholic High School in Sidney, before graduating from Sinclair Community College in Dayton where he fell in love with Suzanne, his best friend and loving wife for 42 years. Active in the Piqua business community for over 30 years, Fred worked at Piqua Battery before starting Auto Lube Inc. with his father Charlie and siblings Joe, Chuck, and Jean. Many remember Fred more recently as a driving instructor and school bus operator for Piqua and Houston school systems. Many more will recall a ball team he coached, a plane ride he gave, or a cruise he shared on Douglas Lake. Few cared, loved, and hugged like “Freddie D.” Most of all, Fred was a man of faith, a devoted husband and father, and doting “Poppy” to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those he so fiercely loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, June 24, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ethan Moore and Rev. Fr. Daniel P. Hunt Con-celebrating. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. A special thank you is offered to the A.L.S Association of Kentucky and the compassionate care givers of Carmel Manor Nursing Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.L.S. Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
