Jo Anne Hefflinger, 92, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 1:26 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024 at Brookdale of Piqua. She was born August 25, 1931 in Piqua to the late Clarance and Nola (Foster) Emmons. She married Frederick C. Hefflinger in the Evangelical United Brethren Church October 22, 1960; and he preceded her in death September 21, 2016.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana (Ted) Keith of Versailles, Kris (Steven) Amburgey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Staci (Josh) Evans, Nola (Yorlin Moraga) Amburgey, Emily Amburgey; two great grandchildren, Jonus Lipton, Nicholas Evans; a brother in law, Russell Meeds of Miamisburg; two nieces, Linda (Wally) Dietz of Indiana, Karen (Larry) Fultz of Columbus; a nephew, Mark (Peggy) Meeds of Dayton; as well as cousins, extended family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Meeds, Betty Emmons, and Ellen Emmons.
Jo Anne was a 1949 graduate of Piqua Central High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Dayton in 1956. She was the former physical education teacher for Fairmont West High School in Kettering as well as the former fencing coach. Additionally, she was the former Camp Fire Girl Area Director. She worked for many years as the Office Administrator for Edward Jones Investments, from which she retired. She was a member of the Piqua Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. Most of all, she loved taking family trips around the country, especially to Tennessee, and Albuquerque. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends.
A service to honor her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Valekis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Day City Hospice, 7601 Paragon Rd.
