JoAnn J. Bowser, 89, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 3:01 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Stonespring of Vandalia. She was born July 31, 1934 in Dayton to the late Kenneth and Alice (Koeller) Shiverdecker. She married Willard L. Bowser January 24, 1953; a union that would span 70 years; and he preceded her in death January 12, 2023.
Survivors include two children, Tim (Clara) Bowser of Troy, Sherry (John) Kastle of Piqua; eight grandchildren, Angie (Joe) Hooper, Brent (Shannon) Bridgman, Tracy (Aaron) Brown, Niki (Bryan) Gardner, Scott (Julie) Bowser, Laura Bowser, Kelly (Ben) Perreira, Sarah (Zach) Tyre; fourteen great grandchildren, Jared, Breann, Allison, Ashley, Austin, Trevor, Ava, Logan, Grant, Reid, Kailey, Chase, Wyatt, Ryder; and one great-great granddaughter, Stella. She was preceded in death by a sister, June Holp; a daughter, Deborah Bridgman; and a son-in-law, James Bridgman.
Mrs. Bowser was a 1952 graduate of Brookville High School. She was a former member of Shiloh Lutheran Church. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother who was meticulous about keeping her home in order. She enjoyed her card clubs with friends over the years as well as bowling leagues with her husband. Additionally, she loved to cook. She enjoyed traveling with her family, but her favorite destination was Myrtle Beach. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and followed them to all of their sporting events and scholastic activities. She, along with her husband followed closely their beloved University of Dayton Flyers Basketball where they were long time season ticket holders and attended as long as they were able. Most importantly, she loved her family deeply and treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren, of whom she was deeply proud. She will be remembered for her kind heart and loving nature. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed making new relationships and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private service to honor her life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
