June 22, 1960 ~ December 31, 2023 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Jenny Frances Bates, 63, of Troy, passed away at 12:59 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born June 22, 1960 in Troy to the late Jessie and Katherine (Wright) Smith.

She is survived by six children, her favorite, Michelle (James) Dallas of West Chester, her favorite, Justin (Lacey) Holt of Smithville, her favorite, Latasha (Mike Hartley) Bates of Piqua, her favorite, Jessie (Christine) Holt of Beavercreek, her favorite, Megan Bates of Troy, and her favorite, Lindsey Bates of Troy; eight grandchildren (that were actually her favorites), Keegan Bates, Syris Doughty, Isaac Holt, Caleb Dallas, Penelope Holt, Evan Holt, Titus Holt, and Sophia Holt; five siblings, Judy (Randy) Anderson of Conover, Janet (Bob) Chaney of Piqua, Patty McClellan of Conover, Brenda (Dan) Wilson of Evansville, Indiana, and Frank (Missy) Smith of Covington; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother in law, Nick McClellan.

Jenny had attended Miami East Schools, and she had worked at Spinnaker Coating for many years. Jenny served her country honorably in the United States Air Force. She attended the former Favorite Hill Baptist Church, as well as other churches over the years. It was no question that Jenny was the best Mother and Grandmother around, and she made it look easy. She was the most positive, uplifting person you would ever meet and she always had a little gift ready to give to anyone that she ran into. She was quick to help anyone in need and was a Christian warrior and a prayer warrior. Jenny was excellent at making life fun, signified by her spontaneous tea parties and tiaras, her snacky trays that she conjured up in no time at all, her skills in the kitchen with baked goods and overall just how fun life was when she was involved. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her teasing skills, and she was the best storyteller. Jenny made every family member feel special and loved, and she especially spoiled her grandchildren. She was an Angel on Earth, and her presence and positivity will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life service for Jenny will be announced at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
