Jeanne Kathleen Slack, 73, of Columbus, passed at Riverside Methodist Hospital Thursday, April 21, 2022 after attempts of resuscitation. Her family was by her side at the pronouncement of her passing. She was born December 27, 1948 in Piqua to the late Robert E. and Ruby (Oliver) Adlard. She married Robert A. Slack May 13, 1972; a union that would span 49 years, and he survives
Other survivors include two sons Benjamin Robert (Ashley) Slack, Alexander Joseph Slack all of Columbus; and a brother, Dr. John M. Adlard, Schererville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by parents-in-law Maynard G. and Elinor (Kring) Slack (Dayton, Ohio); and a son Johnathan Oliver Slack (March 10, 1988).
Jeanne was a 1967 graduate of Piqua Central High School, a 1971 graduate of Ohio State University's College of Education and returned to OSU to obtain her Masters Degree in Counseling in 1980. Her career began with teaching fifth grade (a hormonal challenge of itself) at Hayes Elementary in the Piqua City School system, and later at Delaware vocational school in Delaware, Ohio. She was proud of and maintained her counseling license throughout her life. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, Northwest United Methodist Church, a Stephens’s Ministry counselor, member at the Scioto Country Club and the Athletic Club of Columbus.
She was a great mother and wife with a deep rooted faith. She was known by everyone as a deeply kind, caring and thoughtful person. After receiving a kidney from her son (Alex) in 2014, Jeanne has had many physical illnesses due to her deficient immune system. She struggled daily with Covid fears and with her general health. We are thankful for the many doctors who took her calls on a daily basis for their support and understanding. For those who know her, we can take comfort in knowing she will be received with open arms in Heaven above.
A private service to honor her life will be held at Fletcher Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of Jeanne’s life from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Scioto Country Club, 2196 Riverside Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
