Janet K. Bailey, 35, of Piqua, passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 15, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born July 17, 1989 in Piqua to Michelle L. (Woodruff) Raffel of Greenville and the late James C. Hart. She married William K. Bailey May 11, 2013 in Piqua; and he survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Hannah Bailey of Piqua; a sister, Nicole Holbrook of Casstown; a stepfather, Lawrence Raffel of Greenville; her paternal grandmother, Janet Hart of Springfield; her maternal grandparents, Larry and Brenda Woodruff of Christiansburg; her mother-in-law, Kathy Bailey of Piqua; two brothers-in-law, Timothy Bailey of Piqua, Howard (Heather DeMarcus) Bailey of Piqua; a sister-in-law, Whitney Bailey of Piqua; her nephews and nieces, Landon, Owen, Jonathan, Jordyn, Noah, Nora; her best friend and near sister, Ondrea Martin of Dayton; her beloved canine companion, Marty; and other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Roger Hart.
Janet was a 2007 graduate of Troy Christian High School and the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School where she earned her cosmetology certificate. She worked in medical billing and as the receptionist for Advance Foot and Ankle. For many years, she drove a small school bus and worked as an aid as well as in the lunch room for Piqua City Schools. She loved to assemble Lego’s and attend any and every extracurricular event Hannah was involved in from Softball to band and choir. She was the glue that held her family together. She was always willing to give others her time and was always checking in on her family and friends. She was one of the most caring people you could ever meet; until it came to playing Phase 10, where she became extremely competitive and was ALWAYS out to win. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends. The family would also like to extend a special “Thank You” to the incredibly talented and patient staff of the Heart & Vascular Intensive Care Unit at Miami Valley Hospital who took such great care of Janet and her family.
