Janet A. Weldy, 88, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 5:35 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 1, 1934 in Piqua to the late Marvin C. and Helen A. (Nicholas) Ginn.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Rhonda) Meckstroth, James (Lisa) Meckstroth both of Piqua; six grandchildren, James C. (Kelli) Meckstroth, Justin W. (Christina) Meckstroth, Joshua L. (Kelly) Meckstroth, Jason R. Meckstroth, Kristin N. Meckstroth, Erica Wilt; eight great grandchildren, Corbin (Reganne), Caler, Carris, Carsyn, Payton, Haylee, Wyatt, Lettie Jo; and two sisters, Ruth Smith of Celina, and Mary Inderrieden of Troy. She was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Lawson.
Mrs. Weldy was a 1952 graduate of Covington High School. She worked for EDM Corporation for 25 years before her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed playing cards, especially in her younger years with her card club. She enjoyed following her favorite drivers in NASCAR, watching football and basketball, and would “watch baseball when there was nothing else on”. She enjoyed traveling, particularly out west with her sisters to visit Las Vegas where she enjoyed slots, video poker and bingo. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
In keeping with Janet’s wishes, a private graveside service to honor her life will be held at Houston Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Ambulance Fund P.O.
