JAMES "JIM" ALLISON Obituary

James E. “Jim” Allison, 91, of Houston, died at 8:18 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Fair Haven Nursing Home. He was born January 27, 1933 in Dawson to the late Charles and Helen (Moyer) Allison. He married Virginia Williamson in 1954; and she preceded him in death September of 1967. He then married Sally Jo Jones December 7, 1968 in Piqua; and she survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Merri Carstensen of Troy, Jenny (Charles) Dodd of Piqua, Bobbi Mobley of Roseburg, Oregon; a stepson, Bryan Pine of Saint Paris; a stepdaughter, Melissa (Phil) Woolley of Russell Springs, Kentucky;  four grandchildren, Kim (Jon), Justin, Crissy (Jon), Kaitlyn; a step granddaughter, Krystal; six great grandchildren, Zachary (Rebecca), Mara (Andrew), Gus, Matthew Jr., Harlie, Bennett; three step great grandchildren, Chloe, Carter, Callie; three great great grandchildren, Knox, Millie, Andrew; and a brother, Bill (Juanita) Allison of Pleasant Hill. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam Allison, Tom Allison; a sister, Nancy Hendricks; a grandson, Matthew Dodd; a great granddaughter, Virginia Marye; a step grandson, Brandon Woolley; and a son-in-law, Kit Carstensen.

Jim was a 1951 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Intrepid. He retired as the foreman for Aerovent after 33 years and from Custom Aerosol Packaging after 21 years. He was a 50 year member of Warren Lodge #24 Free & Accepted Masons, was a past member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks in Piqua, and was a member of the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Chorus. Jim enjoyed fishing and taking trips to Canada with his brother Bill. He loved to travel to one of he and Sally’s favorite places, Brown County, Indiana to visit cousins and visit the places his father was born and raised.

A graveside service to honor his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2024 at Houston Cemetery with Pastor Kris Geise officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
