James E. McKale, 83, of Piqua, passed away at 1:08 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Spring Hills Middletown Assisted Living. He was born June 29, 1938 in Piqua to the late Erwin J. and Agnes (Hirschbolz) McKale. He married Patricia M. Obringer October 21, 1961 at St. Mary Catholic Church; and she preceded him in death January 28, 2012.
Survivors include three daughters, Jeanne (Mark) Conrad of Edgewood, Kentucky, Kathleen (Jeff) Hosner of Beavercreek, Theresa (Chris) Felkel of Lexington, South Carolina; a son, James (Lisa) McKale of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Michael McKale of Duncansville, Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Connie McKale of Kettering, Kay Vagedes of Troy.
Mr. McKale was a 1956 graduate of Piqua Catholic High School and earned his Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Dayton in 1961. He retired in 2001 as the Quality Control Manager and Chemical Engineer of Dragon Products in Rockland, Maine. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church having served as an Acolyte, Lector, Eucharistic Minister and on its Building Committee and School Board. Additionally, he enjoyed his time coaching little league baseball in his younger years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel P. Hunt as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Monday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Broadway, Piqua, OH 45356 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 31 W. Whipp Rd., Dayton, OH 45459.
