James A. “Jim” Asbury, 76 of Covington, passed away at 4:26 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. He was born September 23, 1945 in Piqua to the late James H. and Mabel L. (Taylor) Asbury.
Survivors include four children, Andrew (Amanda) Asbury of Troy, Aaron (Hanah) Asbury of Piqua, Angie (Steve) Stearns of Napoleon, and Heather (Calvin) Lester of Indianapolis; eleven grandchildren; one brother, Douglas (Becky) Asbury of Port Clinton; and his significant other, Lana White of Piqua. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Karolyn in January of 2001.
Jim was a graduate of Piqua Central High School Class of 1963 and received his Associates Degree from Sinclair College in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an ISO Registration Auditor for AVU Registrations INC. for some time. One of Jim’s biggest passions in life was cars and most of all Corvettes. He was a co-founder of the Miami Valley Corvette Club, was on the National Council of Corvette Clubs, was a fierce competitor and loved to race his Corvettes. Jim was also a member of the Covington VFW and the Troy Eagles. He loved to cook and enjoyed food and restaurants in his travels around the country. Above all, Jim surrounded himself with love and laughter, food, and adored his family and was quick to spoil his grandkids. He will absolutely be missed by all who knew Jim.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at his farm, on August 27th at 2:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery in Tipp City. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton/ Miami County.
