Jim was a very proud Air Force veteran that served in Vietnam and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a Heavyweight Diesel Mechanic for Caterpillar for many years. Jim was very handy and could fix just about anything and was willing to help and find a solution for anyone that needed help. Jim was a member of the Russell Road Church in Sidney and loved his church family. He really enjoyed the hymns sang at church, and was affectionately known as "Candyman Jim" at church, and he was the "Tootsie Roll Man" at the VA. He always had candy and would search out people to offer candy to them. Jim loved to collect guns and was always early for everything, and was always available to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
A service to honor Jim's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Gillenwater officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, also at the funeral home.
