JACQUELYN L. (HOLMES) BERTSCH

Jacquelyn (Holmes) Bertsch, 88, of Piqua passed away at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Soin Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1933 in Dayton to the late Wayne and Alberta (Trimble) Hardy. She married Raymond D. Holmes September 1, 1951 in Dayton; he preceded her in death May 23, 2009. She married Thomas A. Bertsch October 25, 2014 in Piqua; he survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Dianna Brant of Covington, Kathleen (Anthony) Vickroy of Piqua, Joanel (Robert) Rurode-Heinrich of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; two stepdaughters, April (Roy) Rouscher of Lafollette, Tennessee, Debbie (Carl) Burt of Sidney; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Wayne “Sonny” Hardy Jr.; and a sister, Marilyn McKenna.

Mrs. Bertsch was a member of Snyder Road Church of God and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with her husband Tom. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the activities director of McDonald’s in Sidney which she deeply enjoyed. She was a gifted seamstress and embroiderer. She owned the Buccaneer Restaurant with her first husband from 1965-1968. Additionally, she was a volunteer EMT in Covington and enjoyed going to the Eagles for tenderloins.

A service to honor her life will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Bishop Eric Russell and Gordon Merrill officiating.
