Howard D. Philipps, 86, of Piqua, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Ayden Healthcare. He was born January 25, 1937 in Piqua to the late Howard M. and Pearl (Fagan) Philipps. He married Nancy L. (Miller) Philipps July 3, 1958 in Tampa, Florida and she preceded him in death June 19, 2019.
Survivors include four children, Dwight "Mike" (Pam) Philipps, Howard (Deb) Philipps Jr., all of Piqua, Sherri (Nate) Sargent of Minster, and Carla (Daryl) Sibert of Piqua; eleven grandchildren, Mike (Lisa) Philipps, Darrell Philipps, Melissa (Jason) Spurgeon, Allana (Chad) Deaton, Kurt (Rachel) Cruse, Brandy (Brandon Harstine) Cruse, Makayla (Chewy Perez) Kindell, Johnny (Lillian) Russell, Philip (Angela) Russell, Brian Sibert, and Brittany (Thomas) Wills; 27 great grandchildren; his sister, Jean Caven of Piqua; and his sister in law, Ann White of Covington; also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters, and three brothers.
Howard worked in steel construction his whole life, in Florida and Ohio and most recently had worked as a Superintendent. He was a longtime member of the Piqua F.O.E. #614 until it closed and more recently of the Covington F.O.E. #3998. Howard was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Miami County Bass Masters. He went on many fishing trips over the years and participated and won quite a few fishing tournaments. If Howard wasn't gone fishing, he would either be manning the grill, or drinking a Budweiser and playing tips at the Eagles.
A special time to honor Howard's life will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, April30, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
