Henry P. “Hank” Spurlock, 79 of Piqua, passed away at 9:34 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1942 in Pineville, Kentucky to the late James B. and Fannie (Brock) Spurlock.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa (Mike Foster) Smith, and Loretta (Mike) Fine all of Piqua; eight grandchildren, Jessica Locker, Zachary (Kristie) Smith, Katie (Matt Cassiere) Branson, Teyler (Paul) Ault, Brooks Smith, Faith Branson, Beth (Jarrett) Reeder, and Eric (Jeana) Fine; eleven great grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Mason, Elliott, Emmett, Bentley, Sebastian, Ryan, Bailey, Julian, and Owen; one brother, Gene (Jane Washington) Spurlock of West Alexandria; also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
Hank attended Greenville High School and began working at a full service station for vehicles, which fostered his love of cars and tinkering with them from a young age. He then worked as a United Steelworker for 36 years at Miami Industries. As previously mentioned, Hank loved to work on cars and rebuilt a 1936 Pontiac in his spare time, and enjoyed helping family and friends with their automotive needs. In the past Hank enjoyed being in bowling leagues over the years, and was a member of the former Moose Lodge in Piqua as well. His biggest passion was for the game of golf, he played frequently and was planning to just last week. He even put together his own golf clubs and used them. Hank had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, usually inappropriate ones at less than proper times but we loved him just the same. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service to honor his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor John Shelton officiating. Burial will follow the service at Stelvideo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2 also at the funeral home. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
