Helen Brown Enos, 107, formerly of Piqua, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2024 at Bayshire Yorba Linda in California. She was born January 20, 1917 in Sidney to the late Alva Louis and Lola E. (Davidson) Hageman. She married Donald Brown February 10, 1938 in Sidney, he preceded her in death in 1970. She then married William Enos in 1975 in Piqua, he preceded her in death in 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Scott) Looney of Hemet, California; two granddaughters, Laurel (Steve) Prahm, Jennifer (Michael) Stephenson; and three great grandchildren, Jamie Prahm, Olivia Stephenson, and Emily Stephenson. She was preceded in death by a son, Navy Lt. James R. Brown; a granddaughter; a sister; and a brother.
Helen was a graduate of Green Township School, Sidney and earned her BS in Education from Cedarville College. Her notable teaching career included positions with Springcreek and Spring Street Elementary Schools for thirty years. She was an active member of Greene Street United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, directed the Cherub Choir, Chaired the Christmas Market and served on its Administrative Board. She had served as President of the Piqua YWCA and the Piqua Education Association. Her other volunteer efforts included the 4-H Club, Miami County Homemakers, Sheepskin Community Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Girl Scout Camp and Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
A service to honor her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Will Leasure officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Greene Street United Methodist Church, 415 W.
