GWENDOLYN M. THOMPSON

Gwendolyn M. Thompson, 93, of Sidney, passed away at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born June 18, 1931 in Ossian, Iowa to the late Clem and Esther (Mundt) Schroeder. She married Eldon Dull June 27, 1948; and he preceded her in death. She then married Herman L. Thompson, Sr. October 29, 1982 in Waukon, Iowa; and he preceded her in death September 11, 2016.

Other survivors include a daughter, Deonn Jenkins of Piqua; two stepsons, Herman (Jane) Thompson, Jr., of Summerville, South Carolina, Johnny Thompson of Sidney; seven grandchildren, Michael Brandt, Matthew Brandt, Nicole (Richard) Addington, Tina (Jason) Mink, Krissy (Jeremy) Creekmore, Tiffany Newman, Trentin Jenkins; seven step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and a sister, Karen (Kenneth) Ney of Ossian, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Dull, Dale Dull; a daughter, Debra Brandt; a grandson, David Dull; a stepson, Bruce Thompson; two sons-in-law, Duane Brandt, Roger Jenkins; a daughter-in-law, Roxanna Dull; and a stepdaughter, Jackie Hines.

Mrs. Thompson attended Postville High School in Iowa. She worked as a farmer for several years in Monona, Iowa. She then worked for Wilson Packing Plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the co-owner of Piqua Harley Davidson, and Quester Evenflow before becoming the office custodian for Hartzell Propeller for many years before enjoying retirement. She was a member of Calvary United Baptist Church in Sidney. Gwen enjoyed times with family, working in her yard with her beautiful flowers that bloomed all summer into fall, fishing, camping, traveling to many states, and retirement memories traveling with her sister and brother-in-law. Gwen will be deeply missed by her family. She was an icon to her family with a deep concern for all.  

A service to honor her life will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor David Shepherd officiating. Private burial will be held at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
