GEORGE B. MCMILLAN

George B. McMillan, Jr., 92, of Piqua, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born July 14, 1930 in Carroll County to the late George B. and Alverta (Houk) McMillan, Sr. He married Ruth A. Wick August 30, 1953; a marriage that would span sixty-nine years; and she survives.

Other survivors include three children, David (Theresa) McMillan of Piqua, Debra (William) McMillan-Ash of West Chester, Dan (Tamara) McMillan of Centerville; five grandchildren, Cody McMillan, Taran McMillan, Kiara McMillan, Dustin McMillan, Amanda Viney; and six great grandchildren, Shelby McMillan, Isabella McMillan, Aria Viney, Gavin Viney, Nyx Frey and Gage Bowman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McMillan; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Remsburg.

George was a graduate of Minerva High School and attended Ohio Northern University where he met Ruth. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he also served as the Sunday School Superintendant. He, along with his beloved wife, owned and operated the community staple, George’s Dairy Bar, for over 60 years before their retirement. He was an avid fan of harness horse racing. He owned several horses that raced at Scioto Downs and the Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended the Little Brown Jug racing day in Delaware, Ohio every September for many years. He will be remembered for his kindness, wonderful sense of humor, care for the community and contagious smile.

A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of George’s life will begin with a coffee social time at 11:45 a.m. and service beginning at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Green officiating.
