Evelyn M. “Mickey” Helke, 84, of Houston, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Troy Care & Rehab. She was born November 29, 1939 in Piqua to the late Ralph “Bus” and Eva (Arnett) Nicodemus.
Survivors include three children, Chris (Susan) Libbee of Piqua, Maralee (Steven) Paulus, Jr. of Urbana, Lucinda Fry of Troy; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Debbie) Nicodemus of Marathon, Florida. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Nicodemus; and two sisters, India Yount, and Patricia Jess.
Evelyn attended Piqua Central High School. She worked various positions in food service over the years as well as in a manufacturing position with Captor Corporation. She loved to go fishing, especially at Lake Loramie where she had a very specific fishing hole. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed decorating for Christmas. Additionally, she enjoyed cooking and made some of the best fudge and potato salad. She will be deeply missed.
Private services to honor her life will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
