EMMA L. NICODEMUS

Emma L. Nicodemus, 84, of Piqua, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Northwood Skilled Nursing. She was born September 16, 1938 in Piqua to the late John H. and Sally E. (Hartman) Jones. She married Ronald G. Nicodemus May 22, 1976 in Piqua; and he preceded her in death August 25, 2017.

Survivors include a brother, Henry (Janet) Jones of Troy; a sister, Jackie Schmidt of Sidney; a special niece Wanda (Keith) Reck of Bradford; her beloved cousins, Pat Morris, Susan Middleton, Dave Pappas, Emily Middleton-Brown; and a very dear friend, Joy Martz of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Jones.

Mrs. Nicodemus was a 1956 graduate of Houston High School. She worked for 33 years for Ohio Bell/AT&T; a position she truly enjoyed before she retired. She was a past member of the Piqua Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed her women’s bowling league. She was active for many years with the Piqua YWCA, specifically the Kazoo Klowns where she dubbed the name “Flutterby” and looked forward to participating in parades and events throughout the town. She was a member of the Pioneers which was a group of Dayton area retired AT&T employees and was highly involved in their charities. She loved to travel and did so extensively throughout the United States and abroad. She enjoyed her Cousin’s Book Club and lunches as well as her informal Breakfast Club. She looked forward to her Sunday breakfast with Wanda and Keith.

A service to honor her life will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Eileen Hix officiating. Private burial will be held at Beechwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA of Piqua, 418 N. Wayne St. Piqua, OH 45356.
