Edwin Albert Pierce, 94, of St. Marys, formerly of Piqua, passed away at 4:48 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Otterbein St. Marys. He was born January 13, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Elias and Kathryn (Sloan) Pierce. He married Carolyn "Joanie" (Skirvin) Pierce on December 25, 1964 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and she preceded him in death January 11, 2013.
Edwin is survived by two sons, William (Jody) Pierce of Fishers, Indiana, and Edwin "Ed" Alan (Kimberlee) Pierce of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Robert Edwin (Leanne) Pierce, Elizabeth (John) Pierce Kuhn, and Jonathan (Joshua) Pierce; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; also other relatives and friends.
Edwin was a graduate of Alexandria High School in Indiana, Class of 1948. He went on to receive his B.S. in Business Administration from Ft. Wayne Business College. Edwin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He was the Executive Vice President of Orr Felt in the late '70s and early '80s, and was the CEO of Inland Homes in Piqua for many years building Pre-Fab homes and developing land. Edwin was very active in service organizations and enjoyed the connections made over those years. After retirement, Edwin still read the Wall Street Journal frequently and enjoyed keeping track of business and economic affairs. In his free time, Edwin loved working in the yard and being outside, and took great pride in keeping his equipment in pristine condition. He previously liked to travel to Florida over the winter and greatly enjoyed his time there.
A service to honor his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Wills officiating. Burial will take place privately at Forest Hill Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad following the funeral service at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Education Foundation, P.O.
