Edwin L. Liette, 88, of Piqua, passed away at 7:02 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1936 in Piqua to the late Bernard and Lenora (Marshall) Liette. He married Jean A. (Koontz) Liette April 25, 1959 in Dayton and she preceded him in death October 26, 2016.
Survivors include three children, Darla Liette of Piqua, Duaine Liette of Sidney, and Doug Liette of Piqua; five grandchildren, Joshua, Jordon, and Michael (Stephanie) Liette, Jeremy and Dustin Jones; two great grandchildren, Jacob Jones and Madison Workman; two siblings, Marilyn (Bob) Tegtmeyer of Englewood, and Ronald (Sharon) Liette of Tipp City; his brother in law, Lee Elsas of Russia; also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Elsas and Eileen Bertellotti.
Ed was a graduate of Houston High School, Class of 1954. He went on to get his Associate's Degree in Real Estate from Sinclair Community College. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Ed had a passion for Real Estate and was the President of Ed Liette Realty for over 60 years, and truly enjoyed buying and selling real estate and owning rental properties. He was the President of the Miami County Board of Realtors in 1976. Ed also had a passion for farming, and enjoyed working on the farm and considered it a hobby more than work. He was a hard worker, and tried to help people get started in business or purchase a home or rental. Ed loved his family, and would do anything to help his family or friends in tough times.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eric Bowman as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Broadway, Piqua OH 45356.
