Edward Elliott, 91, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 in his home. He was born September 11, 1930 in Troy to the late Clarence E. and Pauline E. (Deal) Elliott. He married Ann D. Wise June 13, 1951; a union that would span 70 years, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jeff (Tina) Elliott of Piqua; two daughters, Janet (Randy) Smith of Tipp City, Judy Elliott of Middletown; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Fred (Vicki) Elliott of Troy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Clark and Barbara Siler.
Mr. Elliott was a 1948 graduate of Staunton High School and he attended Miami Jacobs College. He was a very active member of Greene Street United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities on various boards. Ed served his Country in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. He worked as the Vice President and General Manager for Piqua Lumber for fifty-three years before his retirement. He was a life member of the VFW #4874 and the American Legion Post #184. He was a past board member and past president to the Piqua Country Club and the Piqua Rotary Club. He was active with the District 10 Retail Lumber Association, the Ohio Board of Retail Lumber Association, the Sidney Jaycee’s as well as the Big Brothers organization. He was heavily involved with Piqua High School Athletics and was instrumental in starting the Athletic Boosters. He ran the clock for Piqua Football as well as kept the book for Piqua Basketball. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, and watching football. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed staying involved with and supporting his grandkids and their sports.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Will Leasure officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
