Douglas Allen Hirby, 58, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Doug was born in Troy on May 16, 1967 to John and Nancy (Oakes) Hirby of Piqua.
Doug will be remembered for his lifelong love of all things automotive, particularly American muscle cars and high-performance horsepower, and for his extensive collection of detailed, collectible miniature models. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a proud patriot who loved his country.
Doug also loved to travel, experience new things, and meet people wherever he went. With a generous heart, he was always willing to help others and had a special gift for planning-making sure every detail was in place so that those around him could share in the most joy and fun possible.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Nancy Hirby; his brother David and wife Tammy Hirby; his cherished nieces and nephew, Brittney and husband Dallas Hunt, Brandon and wife Tracy Hirby, and Ashley Hirby; his beloved great-nieces and great-nephew; and his special aunt and uncle, Pat and Bill Goebel.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Tecla Kellar, his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Mary Hirby, and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Martha Oakes.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Graveside Service to honor Doug's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. also on Friday, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 4 Paws for Ability, or to the Dayton VA Medical Center Fisher House, to help Veterans in memory of Doug.
