DORIS R. FERREE

Doris R. Ferree, 95, of Huntsville, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Campbell Place in Bellefontaine. She was born December 15, 1928 in Piqua to the late Raymond and Catherine (Sippel) Gertner. She married Neil C. Ferree July 2, 1948 in Piqua, and he preceded her in death March 21, 2000.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Gail (Jim Abouaf) Miller of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Robert Curtis, Eric (Kelly) Curtis, Dustin Miller, and Chantel Ganger; six great grandchildren, Lucas, Darrick, and Colton Curtis, Dolan, Dallas, and Dash Miller; her sister, Peggy Montgomery of Piqua; and her cat, Miss Emma; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Raymond C. Gertner, and Virginia Musselman.

Doris was a graduate of Piqua Central High School, Class of 1947. She was a member of Greenview United Church of Christ in Plattsville. Doris worked as a Press Operator at Sonoco Products, and after retiring, she really enjoyed working in the gift shop at Cracker Barrel. Doris was a member of the Piqua Leisure Club, loved living at Indian Lake and the friends made there over the years. She previously played in a bowling league, and liked to go fishing, traveling and relaxing with a good book. Doris loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A service to honor her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Grunden officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenview United Church of Christ.
