DONALD R. "MOON" RETTERBUSH

Donald R. “Moon” Retterbush, 86, a life long resident of Piqua, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his current residence in Wolcottville, Indiana. He was born May 3, 1936 in Piqua to the late Earl Rhule and Lena Mae (Kraus) Retterbush. He married Patricia M. Adlard June 18, 1961 in Piqua; she preceded him in death August 8, 2015.

Survivors include three children, Mary Ann Grunkemeyer, Kathy Grise, and Susan (Craig) Cheney all of Piqua; thirteen grandchildren, Kyle (Pam Yount) Grunkemeyer, Trenton (Katelyn) Grunkemeyer, Ethan Grunkemeyer, Sarah Grunkemeyer, Samantha Grise, Alexis Grise, Lena Grise, Hannah Went, Claire Went, Kara Went, Quintin Bender, Tatum Retterbush, and Brooke Retterbush; seven great grandchildren, Liam, Noah, Xavier, Hendrix, Autumn, Aleah, and Jack; his daughter in law, Beth Retterbush of Lake Oliver, Indiana; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Retterbush; and his brother, Jack A. Retterbush.

Don was a graduate of Piqua Central High School Class of 1954, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Defiance College in 1958. He was the owner of Retterbush & Sauer Label Corporation in Cincinnati and Retterbush Fiberglass Corporation in Piqua. Don was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Archbishop McNicholas Council of the Knights of Columbus #3344 and the former Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #523. He loved his place at Lake Oliver Indiana and wintering in Florida where he would enjoy boating and fishing. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. He will be remembered for his graciousness, generosity, and true friendship with others.

A service to honor his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. James Duell officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, also at the funeral home.
