Diane Louise DeVinney, born December 13, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio passed away on December 11, 2021 at age 82 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio. Preceded in death by her Mother Donna Jessie DeVinney and Father Donald Wayne DeVinney. She is survived by her brother Dennis DeVinney (Idy) of South Haven, Michigan; brother David DeVinney of Lansing, Michigan; son Mark Schutt of Versailles, Ohio; daughter Wendy Schutt (Ken Leonard) of Columbus, Ohio; nephew Jason DeVinney (Laura) of Boca Raton, Florida; and her beloved grandchildren Maxwell, Abigail and Heidi Schutt of Piqua, Ohio.
Diane grew up in Lansing, Michigan, and loved the freshwater beach and the abundant snowfall. She was a graduate of Ferris State College with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences, Executive Secretarial Course, in Big Rapids, Michigan. She began her secretarial career at Leonard Refineries and then moved to Michigan State University. In 1963 she moved to Ohio to begin her family. In 1972 she began working as a Secretary for the Piqua City School system, first at South Street Elementary School for ten years and then for twenty years at Piqua High School.
Diane was an avid reader, loved plants and gardening, enjoyed going to the theatre with friends, was an excellent decorator, was fascinated with (and collected) owls, had a passion for the many beautiful cats she had over the years, and loved baking and sharing her special chocolate chip cookies. Most of all she was the proud and active “Grammy” of Max, Abby and Heidi. She loved taking care of them and rocking them when they were babies, having them for overnights at her house when they were little, volunteering at Piqua Catholic Schools, and attending nearly every sporting and extra-curricular event.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, 333 High Street, Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Joe Fox officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County, Inc. 3230 N. County Rd. 25A, Troy OH 45373, or The Loft Theatre, 126 N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45402.
