DAVID BURNSIDE Obituary

David J. Burnside, 61, of Piqua, passed away at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1963 in Piqua to the late Ellen (Maniaci) Burnside. He married Teresa (Rossiter) Burnside on August 7, 1981 at St. Mary Catholic Church, and she survives.

David is also survived by three children, Dominic (Kristin) Burnside of Piqua, Benjamin (Maggie) Burnside of Union, and Maggie (David) Fischer of Tipp City; nine grandchildren, Hannah, Hudson, Paxton, Harper, Bexley, Evan, Aubrey, Malachi, and Faith; eight siblings, John (Cathy) Burnside of Sidney, Chris (Tammy) Burnside of Piqua, Tim Burnside of Piqua, Joe Burnside of Arkansas, Toni (Jim) Roth of Piqua, Mary Monnin of Sidney, Jacci (Gordon) Avey of Troy, and Lori Burnside of Troy; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Papale; and his sister in law, Jeannene Burnside.

David was a graduate of the J.V.S. and Piqua High School, Class of 1981. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a longtime, faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. David worked at ITW Hobart Brothers as a Draw Bench Operator and retired after 34 years of hard work and dedication. David was well known in town as a D.J. and enjoyed sharing his love of music with others and being apart of weddings and other events for 25 years. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears, and he enjoyed taking trips to Destin, Florida and Myrtle Beach with his family. David was quick witted and loved to joke around and tell stories, and he had never met a stranger and loved people. Above all else, David was strong in his faith and family was most important to him. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting or school events.
