Danny G. Free, 72, of Sidney, passed away at 4:52 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born June 30, 1949 in Piqua to the late Elden and Emmagene (Sirch) Free. He married Brenda K. Byerly May 29, 1970 in Piqua; and she survives.
Other survivors include his two sons, David Free of Sidney, Dustin (Heather) Free of Troy; three granddaughters, Cayley (Will) Seitz, Nora Daniels, Dannie Free; six great grandchildren; and one brother, Delbert (Robyn) Free of Piqua. He was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Free; and two sisters, Diane Banks and Darlene Paldino.
Mr. Free was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and earned his Associates Degree from Edison State Community College. Danny served proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam. He worked in field service for Crane Pumps, from which he retired after eighteen years. He was an active member of the VFW Post #4874. He enjoyed watching sprint car racing and all types of classic cars. He also enjoyed building his ’55 Chevy Gasser which earned at Top 10 spot at the Tri-Five Nationals. Most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply.
A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.
