DANIEL W. "DAN" SHEPARD

Daniel W. “Dan” Shepard, 73 of Troy, passed away at 11:17 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born June 12, 1949 in Urbana to the late Earl “Pete” and Peggy (Davis) Shepard.

Survivors include three children, Amanda “Amie” (Jason) Steinbrunner of Cincinnati, Brian (Amber) Shepard of Olathe, Kansas, and Tammie Lear of Fairborn; three grandchildren, Elaina Lear, Connor Shepard and Caden Shepard; one sister, Kathy (Patrick) Klohe; also numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jill Cost; his son-in-law, Jayson Lear; and his beloved cat, Oscar.

Mr. Shepard was a graduate of Piqua High School, Class of 1967 and was drafted into the U.S. Army where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. After he returned home, Dan worked with his father at the Val Decker Packing Plant in Piqua before becoming a USPS Mail Carrier, and retired after over 25 years of service. It was important to Dan to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, he was an avid reader and loved the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He also was an animal lover his whole life, and enjoyed coaching Brian and his friends in youth football and baseball.

A service to honor Dan’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the Veteran's Elite Tribute Squad. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Animal Shelter.
