Curtis A. Hampton, 79, of Piqua, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Brookdale of Piqua with his loving family by his side. He was born December 8, 1944 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Paul and Sallie (Walls) Hampton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Reeser) Hampton; his son, Rod (Elizabeth) Hampton of Nashville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Finnick, Maxfield, and Piper Hampton; four siblings, Gordon "Bud" (Annette) Hampton of Texas, Norma McKenna of Piqua, Linda (Dave) Berrett of Troy, and Janice Hampton of Piqua; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hampton; and two brothers, Bobby Jack Hampton and Donald (Jean) Hampton.
Curtis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked in the Electrical Distribution Department for the City of Piqua, and retired in 2001 after 27 years of hard work and dedicated service. Curtis enjoyed working with his hands and didn't like to be idle; he was always tinkering in his workshop or lending a hand to anyone in need- from strangers to neighbors he was willing to help. Curtis was a member of the former Fraternal Order of the Eagles #614 and a lifetime member of the AmVets #72. He and Nancy liked to go camping in previous years, he was a longtime Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and enjoyed Nascar and closely followed Richard Petty, and collected his memorabilia. Above all else, Curtis was a family man and was truly devoted to his wife Nancy and loved his children, grandchildren, and other family members dearly.
A service to honor his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Lincoln Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park in Covington with full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
