CHARLYNE JAMIESON Obituary

Charlyne L. Jamieson, 92, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 7:46 a. m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Piqua. She was born Christmas Day in 1930 to the late Wilbur L. and Helen C. (Mendenhall) McVety. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas J. Jamieson Jr. June 28, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Piqua; he preceded her in death August 22, 2007 following 54 years of marriage.

Survivors include four daughters, Susan (Michael) Yannucci of Piqua, Julia Murray of Cleveland, Deborah Jamieson of Columbus, Mary (Scott) Farmer of Cincinnati; ten grandchildren Emily (BJ) Bryan, Michael (Katie) Yannucci, Nicholas (Jodi) Yannucci, Maria (Thomas) Vonderhaar, David (Erica) Murray, Allison (Nick)  Haddad, Jane (Zach) Roberts, Kailey  Farmer, Sari Farmer Diamond, Zachary (Natalie) Farmer; and 12 great grandchildren who affectionately knew her as GiGi, Stevie, Brennan, Gianna Yannucci, Madison, Jack Bryan, Leo, Anthony Yannucci, Jamieson Vonderhaar, Lilly, Henry Roberts, Beaudry, Scotlyn Diamond; three sisters, Pauline Weinschenk, of Piqua, Carolyn (Dr. Robert) Burns of Columbus, Patricia Dennis of Piqua and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James (Vanis) McVety; sister-in-law, Janet (Ronald) Weldy; brothers-in-law, Dr. Gerald Weinschenk and Thomas Dennis.

Charlyne was a 1949 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She was dedicated to the service of Piqua area families through her tireless efforts working along side of her husband, Tom, with the Jamieson Funeral Home which his parents began in 1940. Their devotion continued the family heritage of a unique service to others for decades. In addition, they were blessed with four daughters and their extended family, while making time for other children internationally through the CISV International Exchange Program and Charlyne as a Girl Scout Leader. Committed to the improvement of the Piqua community, she was active with St. John Lutheran Church, YWCA of Piqua, Fortnightly Club, Piqua Lion’s Club Auxiliary, Altrusa Club, as a volunteer with the Piqua Memorial Hospital and a life long supporter of positive community initiatives. She will be remembered for her grace, smile, and courtesy to those around her.

A service to honor her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald W. Green officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
