Charles A. “Charlie” Wilkinson Jr., 78 of Piqua, passed away at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Kettering Hospital of Troy. He was born June 11, 1944 in Piqua to the late Charles A. and Helen M. (Riesenbeck) Wilkinson. He married Emma M. (Lee) Wilkinson in 1964 and she preceded him in death September 2, 2015.
Survivors include four children, April Wilkinson of Greenville, James (Kathy) Wilkinson, June (Charles) Cromley, and Lerlin Branscum all of Piqua; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his best friends Bruce Driver and Duane Kemp. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Wilkinson III and David Wilkinson; and two brothers, Vernon and Thomas Wilkinson.
Mr. Wilkinson was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and worked at B.F. Goodrich in the maintenance department and retired with over 40 years of service. Charlie enjoyed using his HAM and CB Radios and had a call sign for many years. He loved Piqua Indians football and would listen to their games every Friday. Charlie religiously watched Cash Explosion and various TV series weekly, with his brother-in-law David. He was an animal lover and had many furry and feathered friends over the years, Frisky, Jack and Jill and many others that were close to his heart.
A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123.
