Carl E. “Smokey” Faehl, 82, of Piqua, more recently of Pandale, Texas passed away peacefully at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. He was born March 24, 1940 in Piqua to the late Carl W. and Bessie (Edwards) Faehl. He married Shelba J. Hensley August 28, 1978 in Troy; and she preceded him in death November 18, 2010.
Survivors include three children, Carl J. (Cynthia) Faehl of Piqua, Darla (Bobby) Herron of Piqua, Matt Heslep of Sidney; six grandchildren, Nathan (Anne) Faehl, Kyle Alcorn, Robert (Cedar) Herron, Ryan Herron, Arnold (Emily) Thompson, Christina (Brantley) Warren; numerous great grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Jolliff of Piqua, and Shirley (Bill) Dye of Bradford.
Mr. Faehl served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1960. He worked for over 30 years for Inland Manufacturing as a tool and dye operator; from which he retired. As a die hard Marine, he was a life member of the AmVets Post 88 where he was active for many years serving on the Color Guard. He was also a proud life member of the National Rifle Association. He loved Southwest Texas; the cowboy culture, the attitude and the way of life. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.
A service to honor his life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Conover near Kiser Lake. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
