Brett M. Mason, 62, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 6:03 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025 at his home, after a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1963 in Piqua to the late James A. "Gus" and Rosella M. "Sally" (Puthoff) Mason.
Brett is survived by his daughter, Brooke (Julia King) Mason of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his brother, Jim (Shirley) Mason of Pleasant Valley, Connecticut; and his brother in law, Larry Steinke of Piqua; also numerous other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bonita "Bonnie" Mason and Annette Steinke.
Brett was a graduate of Piqua High School, and went on to proudly serve our country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a UPS driver for over 25 years, he also did some Carpentry and Independent Contractor work, and also worked at the Brel-Aire Bowling Alley in town. Brett loved the outdoors and loved being present in Nature, whether it was going fishing, utilizing his drone to take wonderful photos of things he came across in his adventures, or just taking a peaceful walk. Brett hiked part of the Appalachian Trail with friends, and he was very proud of that achievement. He loved to travel, and cruises were a favorite of his. He enjoyed any live music, and attended many concerts-he always had a lucky streak of winning concert tickets over the radio. When home, Brett could be found tinkering around the house or in the garage working on his Indian Motorcycle he loved so much. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 and a member of the former Piqua Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed being social and running into friends and family members around town at some of his favorite spots. He will certainly be missed by all who loved him.
A gathering of family and friends to honor Brett will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, 799 Washington St., PO Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425 or to Safehaven, 633 N. Wayne St., Piqua, OH 45356. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.
