BLAKE LYMAN Obituary

In loving memory of Blake G. Lyman, 72, of Troy, Ohio, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in his home. He was born January 21, 1952, in Missoula, Montana, to the late Roy G. Lyman and Ethel J. (Berger) Lyman.

Blake leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.  Survivors include a son, Kyle Lyman of Hamden, Connecticut; a daughter, Carly Lyman of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Mark (Joyce) Lyman of Missoula, Montana; and a sister, Melodee (Philip) Belangie of Missoula, Montana.  His nieces include Helen Belangie of Los Angeles, California, and Jenni Kazinsky of Missoula, Montana.  His nephew is Jesse Lyman of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Blake’s journey began at Sentinel High School in Missoula, Montana (class of 1970). During high school, he was a hardworking student-athlete who excelled in the classroom, and also in football, basketball, and track.  He continued his education at the University of Montana where he played football and basketball, and ultimately focused his athletic efforts on basketball (playing under Jud Heathcote).  After completing his college studies, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1975, he worked for several years as a basketball coach, then subsequently as a self-employed carpenter and painter.  He enjoyed remodeling homes and performing various jobs such as crafting furniture and shelves, lap desks, and wooden sports plaques.  He poured his creativity and dedication into every project and developed a high-level of skill with woodworking.  His craftsmanship reflected his love for the work, using his hands and tools.  He continued his work up until he experienced various health complications later in life.  He spent his later years reading, keeping up on current events, and watching various television series such as Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad.  He cherished the simple joys of life while also jumping at the opportunity to discuss deeper philosophical questions about life whenever he had the opportunity.

At his request, he expressed that no formal funeral services be held, but wished for his friends and family to remember him. Local arrangements are being provided to his family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home in Piqua, Ohio.  His ashes will be spread in Montana in the near future, a place that he cherished.  Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com
