BILLIE "JO" SIMMONS

Billie "Jo" Simmons, 55, of Piqua, passed away at 12:09 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. She was born October 9, 1970 in Evansville, Indiana to Sandra (Staats) Nedrebo and the late Edwin Collins. She married Paul Simmons May 8, 2020 in Piqua and he survives.

Jo is also survived by three children, Kendra (Martin) Lunsford of New London, Iowa, Jerry "J.R." Schaefer of New London, Iowa, and Ethan Hendrickson of Iowa City, Iowa; two brothers, Wes (Chris) Collins, and Rob Collins; one sister, Penny (Jim) Mehaffy; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Belinda Hyndman.

Jo had previously worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant and was a faithful member of Stonebridge Community Church. She frequently volunteered for the betterment of her community, sitting on the City of Piqua Parks Board, she was a member of the local Oddfellows Lodge, where she was currently serving as the Noble Grand. As an amateur radio operator (KE8ORS), she participated with RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) and worked closely with the County Emergency Management Agency. She was an avid Amateur Radio operator, and was a Past Officer of the Miami County Amateur Radio Club, and thoroughly enjoyed the friends made and the Dayton Hamvention event she looked forward to every year. Jo was also a super dog Mom, and cherished her fur babies.

A Celebration of Jo's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Stonebridge Community Church. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stonebridge Community Church Food Ministry, 105 E. Greene St., Piqua, OH 45356.
