BILL CLINE Obituary

Bill “Doc” Cline, 86, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 12:39 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. As a true Buckeye, he was born in Columbus December 14, 1936 to the late Virgil and Vivian (Boyer) Cline. He married Jean Caton September 1, 1958 in Columbus; a union that would span nearly 65 years and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Kelli (Brian) Hildebrand of Piqua, Kari (Steve) Fair of Troy; his favorite (and only) son, Brad (Dawn) Cline of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Sydney, Trenton, Ashton, Colton, Holden; three sisters who were deeply ingrained at Ohio State University, the Homecoming Queen Kitty Wertz of Boulder, Colorado, the Cheerleader, Shirley Lehmkuhl of Baltimore, Maryland, and the Synchronized Swimmer, Jerry Hourigan of Denver, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Doc was a 1955 graduate of West High School in Columbus. He graduated in his undergraduate program from The Ohio State University before serving his Country with the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he earned his Doctorate from The Ohio State University in dentistry. He ran his own family dental practice from 1968 to 2001, then worked for Affordable Denture from 2001 to 2011 when he retired. He was a member of the Piqua Rotary Club where he served as Past President and enjoyed working the corn booth at the Heritage Festival. He was also a Shriner. He enjoyed coaching various sports over the years and announced the swim meets for his children. His passion in life was attending his children and grandchildren’s events. He was a true lover of sports but his devotion was to The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was a season ticket holder for over 50 years and was active with the Committeemen of Ohio State. He always looked forward to sharing a Saturday in the Shoe with his family. His presence on the sideline will be missed. GO BUCKS!

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. All are invited to wear their favorite Ohio State attire.
