BEVERLY J. ASHER

Beverly J. Asher, 77, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 6:38 pm on Monday, April 26, 2021 surrounded by her family at Upper Valley Medical Center. There to welcome her into heaven was her soul mate and husband Loren Asher, who went to prepare a place just days before. The two were married on August 24, 1978.

Beverly was born in St. Paris on March 26, 1944 to the late Alva Thornton and Violet (Holeton) Thornton and graduated from Graham High School.

Survivors include her six children, Pamela Freeman of Ft. Myers, Florida, Telisa Gonzalez of Piqua, Kim Shepherd of Anna, James Dorsten Jr. of Piqua, Lawana Wallace of Troy; her step-daughter Sherry Hartzell of Fletcher; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her brother James Yontz of Dayton. She was preceded in death by her special aunt Vannie (Holeton) Davis; and grandsons Brian Hartzell and Philip Harris, Jr.

Beverly loved her family fiercely and they were at the center of her pride. She enjoyed spending every moment that she could with her friends and family. She was an avid crafter, enjoyed camping, and was actively involved at the Piqua YMCA Senior Citizen Center. She and Loren were long time campers at the Lazy R Campground in Bradford.

Beverly was a decades-long member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #614. She retired from the Miami County Community Action Council, where she had been employed since 1977. She attended the Union Baptist Church in Troy.

A service to honor her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Thobe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA Senior Center, 223 W. High St. Piqua, OH 45356.
