Betty L. Murphy, 88, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 8:20 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023 at Brookdale of Piqua. She was born March 30, 1935 in Miami County to the late George L. and Mary E. (Nicodemus) Little. She married James E. Murphy March 22, 1960 in Nashville, Tennessee; and he preceded her in death August 5, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Terri) Murphy of Punta Gorda, Florida; a daughter, Cindy (John) Koeper of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jeff (Christina) McMaken, James McMaken, John "Trey" Koeper III, and Amanda Dalton; seven great grandchildren, Dustyn, Hayleigh, Isaac, Audrey, Katie, Savannah, Gavin; her sister, Nancy Ritter of Lockington; and her sister in law, Martha Little of Piqua. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Little and Cyrus Little; a daughter, Robin Murphy; and her brother in law, Dewey Ritter.
Mrs. Murphy was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was a past member of Lockington United Methodist Church. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. She enjoyed traveling to South Carolina and Florida to spend time with her family. Betty was the Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the former Piqua Eagles. She resided at Brookdale of Piqua and enjoyed her time there. Betty loved to crochet afghans and blankets for her friends and family.
A service to honor her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Kris Geise officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
