ANTHONY "TONY" BERKEMEIER Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Berkemeier, 77, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2025 at 5:35 p.m. surrounded by his family as he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, following a short battle with cancer. He was born February 18, 1947 in Piqua to the late Frank and Mildred (Burnside) Berkemeier. He married Shellie (Robinson) Berkemeier on May 19, 1984, in Piqua and she survives.

Tony is also survived by his five children, Caleb (Audrey) Berkemeier of Washington D.C., Leah (Ryan) Scott of Piqua, Jacob (Abby) Berkemeier of Brookville, Ethan (Summer) Berkemeier of Michigan, and Adam Berkemeier of Piqua; nine grandchildren, Cornelia, Theodora, Isla, Willa, Solly, Winnie, Lilly, Onyx, and Boyd.

Tony was a 1965 graduate and valedictorian of his class of Piqua Catholic High School. He worked for Precision Strip, Inc. for over 25 years prior to his retirement. He attended the University of Dayton. He greatly valued knowledge. He immersed himself in reading and learning throughout the entirety of his life. He instilled the love of reading and a desire for knowledge in his children. He was passionate about playing racquetball, especially with his friends, and won many national titles. He had a heart full of compassion for people, meeting them, and invested himself in knowing them; he never knew a stranger. He delighted himself in God's creation, nature, hiking, birdwatching, and preferred taking the scenic routes. He loved getting lost in the best sense of the word. Tony's ultimate joy was his family. He adored his wife and treasured being a father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. The innumerable memories he created with them are forever cherished in their hearts. Above all of his interests and pursuits, his love, devotion, and faith in Jesus Christ surpassed all others. He attended Englewood Church of Grace and Truth. His church family was very dear to his heart.

A service to honor Tony's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Lincoln Robinson and Ryan Scott co-officiating.
