Anita C. “Nita” Bowser, 65, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 6:25 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Hospice of Miami County. She was born October 19, 1957 in Piqua to the late Coy and Elizabeth (Whitt) Jackson.
Survivors include a significant other of 38 years, William J. Cooper; daughter, Amy (Rob Foster) Jones-Hummel of Springfield; a son, Coy Hughes of Germantown; two stepsons, Chris Cooper of Greenville, Jamie (Danielle Lowman) Hughes of Urbana; a stepdaughter, Crystal Fisher of Springfield; eighteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Linda (Rufus) Gibson of Bluffton, South Carolina, Sherry Shoemaker of Beaufort, South Carolina, Rita (Bobby) Doak of Dayton, Lisa Jackson of West Liberty, Kentucky; two brothers, Dale Jackson of Piqua, Danny (Karen) Kersey of Sidney; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kersey; and a son, Terry L. Hughes III.
Nita was a “jack of all trades” and worked numerous jobs over the years and could do anything from drive a truck to tend bar. She was active for many years with the Loyal Order of Moose 1067 in Piqua. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. Additionally, she loved her dogs and enjoyed playing scratch-off lottery tickets.
A graveside service to honor her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Pastor John Scott officiating. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl.
