ALFRED E. "AL" COOPER

Alfred E. “Al” Cooper, Jr., 86, of Piqua, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Hospice of Miami County. He was born December 2, 1939 in Piqua to the late Alfred E. and Edith L. (Winters) Cooper, Sr. He married Rosalie “Rosie” Morton December 29, 1967 in Piqua; and she preceded him in death January 8, 2023.

Survivors include five children, Tom (Brenda) Shaner of Piqua, Donna (Gene) Ehemann of Anna, Julie (Kenny) Epley of Nebraska, Cindy (Tom) Paul of Piqua, David Cooper of Piqua; a daughter-in-law, Kyle Cooper of Piqua; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a brother, Walter (Linda) Cooper of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Cooper.

Mr. Cooper was a 1958 graduate of Piqua Central High School and attended Miami University. He worked for Champion Paper for 15 years before shifting his career to work for French Oil as a truck driver and receiving clerk for over 30 years before his retirement. He served proudly in the United States Air Force during Vietnam where he was assigned to the Atlas Missile Crew in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Golden Boys Golf group. He was also a member of Piqua Southview Neighborhood as well as Piqua Neighborhood Improvement. Al was a passionate sports fan and closely followed the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

A private service to honor his life will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
