Ronald J. Monnier, formerly of Cincinnati more recently of Piqua, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 21, 1957 in Piqua to the late Virgil A. and Thelma M. (Shappie) Monnier.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald “R.J.” (Erin) Monnier of Piqua, Ryan J. Monnier of Piqua, Joseph J. Monnier of Columbus; two grandchildren, Sophia Marie and William Jason Monnier; and six siblings, Patricia (Rich) Knab, of Piqua, Thomas (Kathy) Monnier of Hamilton, Judy (Preston) Howle of Adams Tennessee, Diana Carpenter of Piqua, Sue (Rick) Monroe of Piqua, and Brenda Taylor (John) Deeb of Piqua. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason R. Monnier.

Mr. Monnier was a 1976 graduate of Lehman Catholic High School where he was an outstanding football player and named Chief Squire of the State Council of the Knights of Columbus. He earned his degree from the University of Cincinnati and taught Physics for over thirty years at Western Hills High School of Cincinnati. He was a member of the Ohio Teacher Association. He was instrumental in the development of Science Day of Kings Island which has been integral in education in the Cincinnati area and throughout the Country. He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends and students.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Bolte as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home where a prayer service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lehman Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 2400 St. Mary’s Ave. Sidney, OH 45365.
