Marcella Layne Taylor, 66, of Troy/Covington, Ohio, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday July 28, 2020 at the Hospice Unit of Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1954 in Hitchins, Kentucky to the late Billy Lee and Ada Marie (Bryant) Layne Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Tammy (Cai) Williamson and Maria Evans all of Troy, Carrie (Gurwinder) Curtis-Gill of Covington/India; two grandchildren, Dustin and Aimee Kerce; husband Jim Taylor of Covington, her former husband and friend, Phillip Evans of Troy/Covington; four brothers, Ricky Layne Sr., Timmy and Charles Layne, Billy Lee (Karen) Layne Jr. Brother In Law Donnie Hedge all of Kentucky; also many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Terry Layne, Patricia “Lou” Couch, Paulette Hedge, and her nephews Douglas Dehart and Ricky Layne Jr.

Marcella, or Marcie to those who knew her, was not only a mother but best friend to her 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren. She had amazing strength and patience like no other. She was unique in her outlook on life and in her personality as a whole. She was a kind, loving and honest person.

She loved music, singing, dancing, butterflies, trees, honey bees, gardening, nature, drinking coffee and cooking/baking. When she could no longer dance or sing she loved watching others do so. She loved butterflies of all kinds but her favorite were blue butterflies, which came to represent her.

Her granddaughter, Aimee, loved most of all that her grandma taught her how to cook and bake which became a special pastime together, along with watching singing competitions and ghost hunting shows. Her grandson, Dustin, loved playing cards and dice with his grandmother but the conversations they would often have were truly special.
