John L. Staley, 89, of Piqua, passed away at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 30, 1928 in Piqua to the late Vondale H. ”Pete” and Alma O. (Grissom) Staley. He married Donna M. Mowery in 1947 in Piqua, and she preceded him in death October 13, 2007.

Survivors include a son, John D. (Gayle Watkins) Staley of Piqua; a daughter, Connie K. (John) Kaiser of Piqua; four grandchildren, John Aaron (Mindy Brown) Staley, Lisa (Shawn Wardlow) Staley, Matthew Kaiser, Jennifer (David) Brading; four great grandchildren, Ashely Brading, Sean Brading, Madison Brown, John Devin Staley; a brother Paul (Joyce) Staley; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Staley; and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ann Staley, and two brothers, Dick and Bobby.

Mr. Staley was a 1946 graduate of Piqua Central High School and was a Sales Representative for Nabisco Foods for many years, from which he retired. He briefly owned Staley’s Market on Park Avenue. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and fishing all of his life. He was an adventurer who loved to travel around the world. He never shied away from a challenge, especially when it came to sales challenges with Nabisco. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. What he cherished most was spending time with his family, taking them to the family cottage at Elk Lake, Michigan. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.

A service to honor his life will begin at 1:30 pm. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kazy Hinds officiating. Entombment will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 325 W.
