Obituary

JAMES M. STITT, JR.

James M. Stitt, Jr., 87, of 2705 Landman Mill Road, Piqua, died on Friday, September 15, 2006 in Piqua. He was born in Bowling Green on March 10, 1919 to the late James M. and Gladys (Bradshaw) Stitt, Sr.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Kreshek of Limestone, Tenn.; three cousins, William (Evelyn) Stitt of Findlay, Patricia M. (Homer) Cooper of Athens, Ga., Jane S. (Grant) von Letkemann of Boulder, Colo.; and special friend, Helen Mikolajewski, and her family, Susan and Roger McLain, and their children, Brittany McLain and Louis James McLain.

Mr. Stitt obtained his degree in Engineering from Ohio State University. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force following over twenty-eight years of service including World War II, where he was a Maintenance Engineer in a Fighter Bomber Squadron. Also, he was plant manager for the former Atlas Allen-A Company and then Plant Manager and subsequently Senior Vice President of Sales for the Holloway Sportswear Company. He was a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #184, Warren Masonic Lodge, and the former Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #523. Additionally he was active in the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Rod and Gun Club, and the American Trap Shooters Association.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. James R. Christy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 pm in the funeral home where a Masonic Lodge service will be conducted at 7:00 pm.
