Dean K. Bredeson, 95, of Piqua, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living of Troy. He was born June 23, 1921 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to the late Carl E. and Mamie A. (Carlson) Bredeson. He married Mary Ann Waldo April 2, 1942 in Money Creek, Minnesota, a marriage which would span almost seventy-five years, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Larry (Carmen) Bredeson of Katy, Texas; a daughter, Jan (Al) Schwarzkopf of Norman, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, C. Edmund Bredeson; and a sister, Lenore Hogan.
Mr. Bredeson was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School of Sioux Falls, South Dakota as well as a 1942 graduate of Winona State University, Minnesota. He then served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, as a 2nd lieutenant and navigator on B17 Bombers. He worked as an engineer and eventual Vice President at French Oil Mill Machinery Company. He was a member of the Piqua Rotary Club, American Oil Chemists Society, Tri State and International Oil Mill Superintendants Association, and the Southern Rubber Group. He enjoyed traveling in their motor home, reading and woodworking.
A private service for his family will be held at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Havey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
